The People Behind
the Pixels
From strategists to designers, engineers to nonprofit specialists, we bring our skills (and a lot of coffee-fuelled enthusiasm) to every project we take on.
But beyond the code, we're real people who care deeply about making a difference. We geek out over great design, love a good challenge, and thrive on collaboration - especially when it means helping organisations create lasting impact. Meet the team behind the work below.
Alex McGibbon
Alex is Product and Innovation Lead at Giant Digital, where he brings together creativity, empathy and insight to shape digital experiences that truly work. With years of experience designing for the charity sector, he's a passionate advocate for user-led design, ensuring that every website, donation platform or bespoke application strikes the right balance between organisational goals and audience needs. From research to UX and UI development, Alex is focused on creating solutions that not only look great, but deliver real results.
Alisha Green
Alisha is a Junior Account Manager at Giant Digital, where she brings a fresh perspective and a strong customer-service instinct to her work with the agency's charity and non-profit clients. Her route into the industry isn't a traditional one - she came to agency life from retail and hospitality, and ran her own small beauty business alongside college. That entrepreneurial streak shows in how she approaches the role: practical, willing to ask the questions that need asking, and clear that how you make someone feel in an interaction matters as much as what you deliver. Working with charities is something Alisha was drawn to deliberately - a local hospice charity cared for her Nan during her terminal illness, and the difference that care made is something she's never forgotten, and now drives her to help other charities achieve through the work Giant does.
Amanda McLeod
Amanda is a Project Manager at Giant Digital, where she has spent her career - spanning more than twenty years - working agency-side across digital. She started out as a frontend developer before moving through web production into project management, and that technical grounding has never left her: she understands what's actually involved in the work, and brings that perspective to how she plans, communicates and manages delivery. She is drawn to the agency environment for the reasons that make it demanding - the pace, the variety, and the different relationships that come with working across a broad range of clients and projects.
Cael O'Sullivan
Cael brings years of experience across UX and UI design, product management, software engineering and digital art. His background is an eclectic one - he studied Illustration with a focus on game design, and has spent over a decade designing, building and testing games, including two independently developed video games with a third in development. That experience has given him an unusually direct relationship with user feedback: understanding how people actually interact with something, and using that to inform better, more considered design. Accessibility and ease-of-use are areas he cares about deeply - not as a checklist, but as a creative challenge that, when approached thoughtfully, improves the experience for everyone.
Gaby Frylinck
Gaby is passionate about creating digital experiences that feel effortless and human. With a degree in Graphic Communication and a Master’s in UX Design, she brings a deep understanding of how people interact with both physical and digital spaces. Gaby has designed for global brands like Wella alongside life-changing charities including Maggie’s, Help for Heroes and Women’s Aid. She specialises in turning complex services and lived experience into intuitive, user-friendly digital journeys that empower and inspire.
Gwilym Evans
Gwilym brings over a decade of experience helping organisations turn digital ambitions into reality – from early-stage ideas and strategy through to successful implementation. Having worked in fundraising at charities like the RNLI, he has first-hand understanding of the unique challenges charities face: stretched resources, ambitious goals, and the pressure to demonstrate impact. This combination of strategic digital expertise and genuine sector insight means Gwilym doesn't just understand what you're trying to build – he understands why it matters. Whether you're planning a website refresh, exploring new digital tools, or rethinking your entire online presence, Gwilym is here to help you find the right path forward.
Jake Quirke
Jake is a Frontend Software Engineer and Accessibility Practice Lead at Giant Digital, where he combines technical expertise with a genuine passion for inclusive design. With a unique background spanning education, marketing, and web development, Jake brings a fresh perspective to every project, building websites that not only look great, but work brilliantly for everyone. He is a firm believer that accessibility is about more than compliance - it is about creating digital experiences that welcome, support and empower every user.
Jon Atkinson
Jon is Technical Director and a founding partner at Giant Digital, where he leads our brilliant development team. With over 20 years of experience as a Python developer, he combines deep technical know-how with a strategic mindset to deliver smart, scalable solutions that genuinely make a difference. Passionate about building platforms that are as impactful as they are intuitive, Jon knows that great tech starts with the people who use it - and he’s all about creating tools that work beautifully for them.
Karl Swatman
Karl is a Software Engineer at Giant Digital, where he works comfortably across both the front and back of the stack - as engaged by a well-crafted UI as he is by the backend logic that drives it. Four years into his engineering career, and having found his way into code as an adult through tinkering with game mods, he came into the profession via self-study and bootcamp - choosing the path deliberately rather than stumbling into it. That route still shapes how he works today: curious by default, always picking up the next tool or technique, and most at home on the problems where there's something new to learn.
Kelly Appleby
Kelly is Account Director at Giant Digital, where she works with charity clients across the full life of a project - from scoping to delivery and beyond. With a career spent in the charity sector, she has a practical instinct for what organisations need and what gets in the way, whether that's funding, partnerships, or technology they're approaching for the first time. Outside of projects, she takes a genuine interest in the wider challenges facing the organisations she works with. She cares deeply about the missions behind the work, and measures success by what the organisations she supports go on to achieve.
Lalita D'Cruze
Lalita is our Operations Director and the engine behind the smooth running of everything we do at Giant Digital. A PRINCE2 Agile specialist, she ensures every project is delivered with care, clarity and efficiency - on time, on budget, and with the highest level of service. Lalita is also a passionate advocate for learning, development, and EDI within the team, always championing an environment where people feel supported to grow and thrive.
Melissa Richards
Mel is Marketing Manager at Giant Digital, where she defines and delivers the strategies and campaigns that bring the agency's work to new audiences. With a background spanning marketing, digital and project management - and eleven years working across the charity sector - she has a grounded understanding of the organisations Giant Digital exists to serve. She is drawn to the harder problems: the briefs that need reframing, the assumptions that need challenging, the insight buried in the research that changes the direction of a campaign or a conversation. For Mel, the real opportunity in marketing is not just in the execution, but in what it can surface, and what that makes possible for the charities and business we work with.
Peter Smith-Keary
Pete is a Senior Frontend Software Engineer at Giant Digital, with nineteen years of experience behind him. His particular satisfaction comes from the full arc of a project: taking a design and building it into something real, from the first blank page through to a finished, polished, fully realised piece of work. He has a sharp eye for detail and an instinct for efficiency that comes from nearly two decades of knowing what causes headaches down the line. When Pete is on a project, it gets done - and done properly.
Peter Hoole
Pete is our Finance Director and has nearly 30 years’ experience working with owner-managed businesses in a variety of senior roles. He’s passionate about making numbers meaningful, sharing financial insights in a way that helps the whole team feel connected and informed. What drives Pete just as much as the spreadsheets is building a positive, open culture where people feel supported to do their best work.
Rob Tagg
Rob came to professional software engineering in 2011 after leaving the British Army, though his relationship with code started much earlier - building gaming websites and selling add-ons for online communities as a teenager. Since then he has worked across API and connected service development, DevOps and internal tooling, and more recently AI workloads and machine learning, with a stint as lead engineer at a tech-for-good startup focused on recycling phones, laptops and e-waste along the way. He is a pragmatist at heart: a strong believer in choosing the right tool for the job rather than the most fashionable one, and in building software that is maintainable, sustainable, and actually solves the problem at hand. Working with charities and non-profits is something he cares about genuinely, and outside of work he is kept busy by a young family.
Tom Bannister
Tom is a Senior Frontend Software Engineer at Giant Digital, with nine years of experience building user-focused, visually engaging web experiences. Alongside his engineering work, he leads a multidisciplinary team spanning frontend, design and QA - bringing different disciplines together and supporting the people in them to do their best work. He has a strong focus on performance and a keen interest in modern frontend technologies, making use of new functionality where it genuinely adds value. He cares about using the web to make a positive difference, and about building experiences that are accessible and meaningful. His interest in computing and user experience started early - inspired, as it happens, by RollerCoaster Tycoon - and a love of rollercoasters has stayed with him ever since.
Tom Merryfield
Tom is SEO Consultant at Giant Digital, helping charities and ethical organisations grow their reach through smart, strategic search optimisation. With over two decades of experience in SEO, digital strategy, marketing and content performance, he knows how to turn search data into meaningful results, bringing more of the right people to the right places. From technical audits and content planning to ongoing performance tracking, Tom’s approach is thoughtful, evidence-led and always aligned with each organisation’s goals.
Vimal Patel
Vimal is Commercial Director and a founding partner at Giant Digital. With over 20 years of digital experience - and deep insight from his role as a charity Trustee - he brings a unique perspective on the challenges and opportunities within the sector. Vimal is passionate about using digital in meaningful ways, helping charities find smart, effective solutions that drive lasting positive change.
Wayne Fagan
Wayne is a Senior Software Engineer at Giant Digital, where he focuses on building thoughtful, well-rounded solutions to technical and non-technical problems alike. With a professional engineering career spanning eight years - and a lifelong passion for code that started with an Acorn Electron - he brings both rigour and perspective to every project. His background in accountancy and finance gives him an instinct for systems and processes that goes beyond the codebase, and he is as invested in the people around him as he is in the quality of the work itself, taking a hands-on role in supporting junior engineers as they develop their skills and confidence.
Will Hoey
Will is an award-winning Senior Backend Engineer and CMS Practice Lead at Giant Digital, recognised for his proactive problem solving, thoughtful collaboration with clients, and commitment to delivering outcomes that matter. Will leads our approach to Django CMS - staying on top of new releases, innovations, and opportunities to ensure our clients benefit from the very best the platform has to offer. Will is passionate about using technology to help charities achieve their missions and is always exploring new ways to go beyond expectations through scalable, future-ready digital solutions.
