Giant Digital and Women’s Aid Expand Partnership to Help Young People Stay Safe Online

We’re delighted to share that Giant Digital are deepening our partnership with Women’s Aid through a new project designed to help young people who have experienced domestic abuse build essential digital safety skills.

Together, we’ve successfully secured funding from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, and the Digital Inclusion Innovation Fund to develop Bridge - a digital literacy platform for children aged 10–14, created to help them navigate the online world safely and confidently.

Bridge will centre around a series of interactive detective games featuring Trace and Cache, two young digital detectives, each teaching a key aspect of online safety in an engaging, age-appropriate way:

  • Trace & Cache: The Case of the Uncrackable Password – creating strong, memorable passwords using length and mental picture techniques
  • Trace & Cache: The Case of the Digital Footprints – exploring browser privacy and managing digital traces
  • Trace & Cache: The Case of the Curious Stranger – recognising information fishing and staying safe in online gaming
  • Trace & Cache: Deepfake Detective – spotting AI-generated content and identifying digital deception

"Bridge is a specialised digital literacy platform for young people aged 10-14 who are experiencing domestic abuse in their family and are currently in safe accommodation or receiving community-based support. Bridge represents a targeted, innovative response to a critical gap in digital inclusion provision, delivering essential life skills to vulnerable young people. The platform has the potential to become a trusted online resource, helping digitally excluded young people learn how to stay safe online.

Women’s Aid Federation of England is proud to be delivering the project to reach more vulnerable young people with our sub-contractor, Giant Digital, a specialist digital design agency."

Nikki Bradley, Director of Delivery at Women's Aid

Work on the project is under way, with continued collaboration between the Giant Digital and Women’s Aid teams to ensure Bridge provides meaningful, accessible support for those who need it most.

"We're thrilled to be working with Women's Aid on Bridge. This project represents exactly the kind of work Giant Digital was built for - using our technical and creative skills to create real social impact. The challenge of making complex digital safety concepts accessible and engaging for 10-14 year olds in difficult situations has pushed our team to innovate in ways that will benefit all our future work with charities."

Alex McGibbon, Director of Innovation at Giant Digital

We’re proud to continue our partnership with Women’s Aid and to contribute to a project that empowers vulnerable young people to stay safe in an increasingly digital world.
